How Do YOU See God?

It has been a while since I last blogged-I apologize for that.  April was an extremely busy month for my husband and I-we bought a new house, and we also had a baby shower and are preparing for our daughter to arrive soon. So lots of fun adventures and blessings.

This link is actually the sermon that was given last Sunday, April 28,2013, at Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, WI where my husband and I attend.  It is an amazing message that I think we can all take something away from.  We are simply asked, "How do you see God?"  We are reminded that God is who He is, as scripture lays out regardless of how WE see Him, or who WE make Him out to be.  Too many times we make God in OUR image, instead of living created in HIS image.  Please take a minute to click on the link, and view this video message, to hear from God's word and pray that He open our hearts, minds, eyes and ears to the truth.  What does He speak to you personally?

(Im apologize viewing sermon is a little dificult-to view sermon follow link below, click on "sermons" in right hand corner of the web page, and then choose the sermon titled "How Do You See God" Isaiah 6, Scott Arbeiter-lead pastor.)

Creamy Shrimp Fettuccine Casserole

If you really want to make a friend, go to someone’s house and eat with him… the people who give you their food give you their heart.” ~Cesar Chavez

I know when a lot of people hear the word "casserole" they are normally not very impressed.  Maybe even a little turned off.  And I have to say, I agree, I am normally one of those people.  However, this creamy shrimp fettuccine casserole will surely change your mind.  It is truly delicious! It does not have the typical Alfredo sauce, although the sauce is very white and creamy.  You can taste a hint of lemon in the dish which pairs  really nicely with the shrimp.  Salad greens, garlic bread and a white wine are great options to accompany your dish.    Hope you all enjoy, please let me know what you think!

Crock Pot Cheesy Broccoli Soup Recipe

Are you looking for a warm, comforting meal during this cold, wet season?  Tonight I am making this very simple cheesy broccoli soup recipe for dinner at my house. This is a crock pot recipe, so there is room for flexibility in the serving time.  It is a great recipe for a quick week night dinner like I am doing tonight, or great to use when entertaining.

Sprinkle with extra cheese and croutons before serving, or add red potatoes and carrots to your soup if you are looking to try something new.  This link also gives a recipe for homemade bread bowls to serve your soup in.

Spring Fashion Forecasting 2013

"Spring shows what God can do with a drab and dirty world."
~Virgil Kraft

Spring is just around the corner, and I am suffering from a severe case of "Spring Fever".  How about you?

Spring fashion trends are always so much fun-such cheerful colors and patterns.  Not to mention very feminine.  Today I would like to share with you what some of spring's hottest trends are, right from the runway, as modeled at spring fashion week in NYC.

Bright, bold floral patterns and pops of colors are turning heads this spring.  Cut-out backs or "peek-a-boo" pieces on flowy, feminine dresses and tops are also a big trend this season.

Bermuda shorts for women are a super hot spring/summer trend for 2013.  I personally love this trend, and really like how it is modeled below; the high waist is very figure flattering.  Also pastel colors, as seen on the shorts, and bold stripes as shown on her tee and also shown above.

The "Mullet" dress is another really great and popular trend for spring and summer 2013.

What is your favorite of these new and upcoming trends?  Are these trends that you are excited about and ready to rock?

Re: Back With a Bang

My last post gave us a look into the most popular (current) hair trend: Bangs.  So I decided to cut my own bangs and give this trend a shot.

Here is a look at the before and afters.  I do have to say that  I really do think that cutting the bang helped to update my look.  It is fresh and edgy.  What do you think about this trend?  Do you agree that it is a great way to update your look?

Back With a Bang

Are you feeling under the weather?  Feeling dull and lifeless?  Maybe it's time for a little "pick-me-up" for you to start feeling bold and beautiful again this winter.  This is a quick little fix to your haircut/hairstyle that will drastically change your look.  BANGS!

Bangs are the hot trend right now, whether your hair is short, long, blonde or brunette.    Celebrities are sporting them all over the red carpet this season.  Bangs add a little mystery to your appearance, intriguing others.  Because bangs are a bold statement they send the message of confidence, which is a very attractive feature.

There are a few different ways you can rock this trend:

Feeling extremely confidant? Rock straight across fringe like Vanessa Hudgens.  This is the best look for women with an oval, triangular, and oblong face shapes.  If you have a round face shape you need to make sure you have enough height/volume at your crown when wearing a straight bang so that the bang does not make you appear rounder.  If you have a square face shape or heart shape this type of  bang may not be for you, because it will only accentuate the hard edges and not soften your look.
If you are looking for a bit more conservative transition, but still want to change up your do, you could opt for some side-swept fringe. This is also a great way to wear a bang if you have a square of heart shaped face.  You can wear a side swept bang at many different lengths and you can wear a soft wispy bang, or a heavy side-swept bang.

If you are not so sure about cutting a bang, you can always purchase a clip-in piece for a bang.  This way you can rock looks with and without bangs, giving you the opportunity to really switch up your look on a daily basis.  Also, you can get a feel for them and decide whether or not bangs are for you.

A New Year!

For a lot of us a new year means a new you!  We are all making new years resolutions and desperately trying to follow through with them.

This year, my new years resolution is to go deeper into my relationship with Christ.  To know Him more as my lover, my heavenly father and my friend.  To really seek Him, so that my life may reflect Him, His love, and bear fruit.  I am making sure I set aside time daily to hear from Him in quiet time, to read His word and hear what he is saying to me and teaching me.  And I am also trying to stay on track with living a healthy lifestyle, eating healthy and exercising, like most of you I'm sure.

What is your new years resolution?

Looking over your past year of 2012, what are the things God has blessed you with? What are some hardships you have faced?  Remember that Jesus wants to teach us, love us and meet us where we are at through the good and the bad. Sometimes it is through our hardships that he can teach us the most, and really draw us into Himself.

What are you looking forward to in 2013?  Have you asked God to bless this next year of your life?
